The Childrens Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) in Knutsford is one of 2 Charities TT Cheshire have decided to support (the other being Macmillan Cancer Support for East Cheshire)
The concept of The Children's Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) was conceived in 1985 by a small group of volunteers that included our former Founder Patron, Tim Grundy. Based around a beautiful 17th century farmhouse, in the heart of Cheshire countryside, the Charity offers free adventure breaks and activities to children who are disadvantaged by illness, disability and poverty, from all over the Northwest.
There are so many ways in which we (as a group) and as individuals can help support this amazing regional charity.
Here are just some that we think might be of interest to you ladies:

THE BIRDHOUSE FUND PRESENTS V DAY 8 MARCH 2011
The Birds of Manchester have stepped up to create a truly magical event to celebrate the 100 year birthday of International Women’s Day. On the evening of 8th March the women of Manchester will join the campaign to stop violence against women and girls by staging a V Day celebration. A cast of 12 local birds will perform The Vagina Monologues, a powerful and liberating play b y Eve Ensler. This will be followed by a high profile debate on the contemporary challenges women still face throughout the world and on our own doorstep including trafficking, rape, abuse, slavery and early sexualisation of our daughters to name a few.
This will be the biggest, cause driven event taking place in the city at the amazing Great Hall in the Townhall and we promise an inspiring night out with equal measure of tears and laughter . Every penny we raise will go to helping local women surviving or fleeing from domestic abuse and 10% will be donated to the V Day campaign to support global projects. What was I letting myself in for! So Monday found me venturing into the Northern Quarter to find Spa Satori. I entered the salon to find a welcoming receptionist and a comfy seat. My only problem (my own fault as I had left my reading glasses at home) was reading the consultation form in the subdued lighting. I managed to complete the form,which included my personal details and medical history, by holding it at arms length!
I was the introduced to Angela who took me through to the treatment room. Subdued lighting with candles. I was really looking forward to a relaxing treatment, particularly after the week that I had just endured.
Reiki – the first half of the session was Reiki. You don’t need to take any clothes off for this relaxing treatment. The bed was comfortable and the blanket kept me warm. Angela started by putting her hands on my face where she held them for some time. My body started to relax with the warmth of her hands and she slowly laid her hands on me, moving down my body. Isn’t it great when you can just relax and forget the stresses of life? I even fell asleep a couple of times! All too soon Angela reached my feet marking the end of the Reiki. session I felt warm and relaxed.
Reflexology – I had had a session of this in the past and it is done by the therapist pressing her fingers over the soles of my feet. Angela explained that each area on the sole of the foot represented a different area of the body. And although it seems amazing that it happened when the therapist feels a change in the texture of the foot, it coincided with an area of weakness in my body.
Both treatments were very relaxing and the trials and tribulations of the past week seem more insignificant than they had been before the treatments. Angela was very caring ensuring that I was comfortable through out. They were both very relaxing effective treatments.

To celebrate INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY on 8 March 2011 the women of Manchester will join the global effort to stop violence against women and girls by staging a V-Day celebration. V-Day is the brainchild of an amazing woman Eve Ensler, playwright, activist and author of THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES. To date Eve and her global V-Day campaign has raised over $70 million to support women worldwide and I have long been a fan of her work.
So, on the evening of 8 March the Birdhouse Fund will join her campaign to stop violence against women and young girls by staging a performance of The Vagina Monologues with a cast of real, local women at a central location and all the money raised by ticket sales, sponsorship and related activities will be donated to the Birdhouse Fund and distributed to women that are fleeing from abuse or struggling to get their life back on track because of domestic abuse in the Manchester area. 10% will also go into the global V-Day pot. Today there is an undeclared war against women in the UK. Each year some three million women will experience violence in one form or another; On average two women die each week at the hands of a partner or an ex-partner. 80, 000 women experience rape or attempted rape. An estimated 1.2 million women experienced stalking in 2003. 4000 trafficked women are in enforced prostitution, locked in dingy flats, drugged, threatened and effectively enslaved. And we should make no mistake about this. These are crimes against women. There are male victims yes, but the truth is that this war is against women because they are women. The figures speak for themselves. In fact they scream. (Trevor Phillips, 2007)
I know the women of Manchester will step up and support this event and I have every confidence the performance will be a sell out and an inspiration, however, despite rumours, I am not SUPERWOMAN and I cannot pull this off single handed so I am asking for your support to make this an evening to remember, one that will launch a dedicated fund for women that will continue to make a difference long after the tears and laughter dies down and we are all safely tucked up in our beds.

Excited and ready for a bit of pampering I stepped into Spa Satori and immediately felt relaxed within the serene setting. I was greeted by a polite young man who took my coat and asked me to fill in a health questionnaire. Once I’d filled it out I was introduced to Cassie, my wonderful therapist for the day. She led me into one of the spacious treatment rooms where I disrobed and hopped up onto the bed.
My first treatment was a mini organic facial with plant extracts and essential oils. Having previously identified that my skin was normal with an oily t-zone Cassie started to cleanse, tone and exfoliate my face. With my skin getting well and truly pampered, I felt like I was floating as Cassie massaged delicious smelling and organic products into my skin. Then, as I lay on the bed waiting for my face mask to set I began to drift off to the land of bliss.
Before I knew it, I was lightly tapped on the arm and asked to roll over so my Swedish massage could begin. Again, Cassie asked me a couple of questions in order to make sure I achieved the best results from my treatment. Aware of the tension in my upper back, she applied just the right amount of pressure to work out my knots and once again send me into paradise!
After the treatments had finished I felt completely re-energised and my skin felt great, more importantly, it looked great and had a fresh glow! I’d only been in the spa for an hour but I felt like I’d had a full days worth of indulgence and will definitely book both treatments again.

Waxing Angel; Angela Ayling is a senior therapist at Spa Satori with 15years experience in the industry. Her unique yoga style stretching techniques, efficient speed coupled with her knowledge and friendly patter makes waxing pretty much pain free! Although she advises to avoid waxing around your period due to being more sensitive and careful to plan in you’re waxing on separate days to St Tropez spray tan and body scrubs.
As a health & beauty tutor Angela has introduced the qualified Spa Satori juniors to her skills but of course they haven’t the years or the speed that she has, but are they excellent none the less!
Angela recommends Lycon Hot wax because it delivers superior performance, removing stubborn and short hair as 1mm (1/16") for the more delicate face or intimate parts. Due to the lower temperature of the wax, it's excellent for sensitive skin with reduced discomfort and irritation. It is a little more expensive than Tea Tree Strip wax but the benefits are well worth it!

Most asked question: What's the difference between a Brazilian and Hollywood wax?
Answer: The terms have been used interchangeably, but there are differences. Brazilian waxes often leave a small strip, triangle or oval shape piece of hair in the front, while leaving a strip of hair in between all the way to the back by your bum. Waxing Hollywood style removes all of the hair, front all the way to the back.
Names are often created at salons and spas so that you know how much you're paying, and they book the right amount of time while having an idea of much hair you're looking to remove. Just waxing the bikini line is much less work and doesn't require as much time or product as waxing all of the hair.
Bikini line just tidies around the knicker line to give triangle at the front – nothing removed from underneath. While an Extended bikini also removes some from underneath but not fully to the extent of a brazillian wax
